- Young Scientist Seminars (YSS)
Competition for Postdocs and PhD students in any field of biology with research close to publication/recently published. All-expenses paid trip to the University of California (late spring 2019 TBC) plus $500 to attend a multi-day science communication workshop lead by the Alan Alda Centre for Communicating Science. Winners record their 30 min research talks, posted as part of YSS. Contact: email@example.com

- Mercator Fellowship
Every year, 25 German-speaking graduates from all disciplines who are committed to improving the world of tomorrow are sponsored. Fellows receive a monthly grant and funding for eg foreign trips, conferences and language courses. Mercator Fellows are part of a network of alumni. - Bayer Pharmaceuticals Doctoral Award
GBM competition for best molecular biology doctorate (accepted in 2018) which must be personally awarded at the GBM conference in Mosbach (4-6 April 2019). All bioscientists (or supervisors on their behalf) can apply. Contact: Professor Franz-Xavier Schmid.

- ERC Consolidator Grant
For scientists who want to consolidate their independence by establishing a research team and continuing to develop a successful career in Europe. - Leonard Euler Programme (DAAD)
Promotes the implementation of joint binational research projects in order to contribute to the retention of university lecturers (ie during the doctoral phase) at their home university. The programme is geared towards: Engineering and Agricultural sciences; Medicine and Natural Sciences; Law, Economics and Social Sciences. - Joint Sino-German Research Projects (DFG and NSFC)
This call is in the fields of chemistry, life sciences, medical sciences and management sciences for collaborative projects to start in 2020. Projects will be funded for 3 years and their aim is to promote high-quality research projects, stimulate mobility, promote training, accelerate the exchange of new scientific knowledge. - German-Argentinian Collaboration in Research (DFG)
this call is in the fields of Physical Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Geosciences, Neurosciences, Molecular and Clinical Infectology and Immunology, Social sciences and Humanities. - Eastern Partnership Programme (DAAD)
to consolidate existing and initiate new long-term partnerships between German universities and universities in Eastern Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe as well as the Caucasus and Central Asia to strengthen broad-based cooperation in teaching and research. - Fulbright-Postdoc funding
sponsorship for 4 to 6 month visits in the USA for a postdoc with German citizenship (see website for full eligibility details) who is conducting a research project at a US university/scientific institution within the framework of the Fulbright programme. Benefits include: organisation and finance of flights, monthly maintenance allowance of €1,600, health insurance, visa sponsorship etc. All postdocs are eligible with the exception of medical subjects. - Greek Partnership Programme (DAAD)

- Fritz Thyssen Foundation Research Stipends
to support highly qualified individual junior scholars who received their doctoral degree one or two years ago. Funding in the following areas: History, language and culture; interdisciplinary field “image-sound-language”; state, economy and society; Medicine and the Natural Sciences.
